The University of Missouri and its Korean Alumni Association are proud to announce the 15th Harry S. Truman Conference, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 24. This year’s conference commemorates the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea Alliance and will be held in Memorial Union on the MU campus.

The conference highlights the historical ties between South Korea and MU, dating back to former U.S. President Harry Truman, whose cabinet service during the Korean War and roots in Independence, Missouri, continue to influence the bilateral relationship.

Distinguished alumni, including H.E. Kim Man-che, Ph.D., former vice prime minister, and H.E. Lee Seung-yun, Ph.D., former vice prime minister, have significantly contributed to Korea’s economic development. Meanwhile, political science alumni, such as former Congressmen Chyung Dai-chul and Cho Soon-sung, have played pivotal roles in advancing democracy in South Korea.

Under the leadership of the president of the MU Korean Alumni Association, Congressman Song Seog-jun, the conference will host engaging presentations and panel discussions on pressing issues on globalization, society, energy, technology and the environment. The event aims to foster collaborations between Korea and the U.S. and celebrate the efforts of alumni driving initiatives in both public and private sectors.

The 15th Truman Conference welcomes the public, offering valuable insights into future directions for the enduring U.S.-Korea partnership.
