Inspired by true events, The Attorney is the story of a materialistic tax lawyer who evolves into a true attorney to defend a group of innocent students falsely accused and tortured by the military dictatorship in South Korea in the 1980s.

Song Woo-seok is a tax attorney in the port city of Busan in the early 1980s. He has no clients, connections, or even a college degree, but his eye for business and appetite for money turn him into one of the most successful lawyers in town. At the peak of his success, a local teenager is falsely accused of a crime, then beaten and tortured while waiting in jail. Shocked, Song takes on the case that no-one else will, changing the course of his life.
